We decided to trade in our 2017 Thor Ace for a Toy Hauler.  We decided to stay at Pirateland RV Park since it was close to Camping World, where we purchased our new RV.

The campground is well kept, all sites are full service.  There is a section for RV’s by the ocean, a section apart from the ocean where campers can be right by small lakes.  Some spaces have sheltered picnic tables.

There are cabins available also.

This is a lovely park with pools, mini golf and beach access.  We really enjoyed it.  With loads of things to do outside the gates of Pirateland, it is a great place to go back to for a rest after a long day of shopping, sightseeing, beach walking, etc.

What would a trip be to Cleveland,  Ohio without a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

If you love any genre of music, you need to tour the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Countless displays of music achievements, costumes, and history and under one roof.  They have also now added a room called the Garage.  You can actually play guitars or keyboards and jam with a studio band.

If you plan to visit, you can get a member pass which allows you to visit for free for an entire year with one cost.  We bought the membership because we visited there three times.  Also know that they have free live concerts often.  And we plan on coming back next year.

We can’t say it enough, Corp parks are beautiful. Mill Creek has a day use area plus a huge campground.  Because it is in Ohio, there is only electric hook ups.  There are drinking water stations around the campground to fill your fresh water tank. There is a dump station.

Mill Creek has very spacious sites.  Most are able to accommodate an RV and a screen tent or canopy.

The majority of campsites are in shade part of the day.

Although there are those in direct sun.

There is no designated beach area, but swimming is permitted.

Fishing and boating are also popular on Berlin Lake.  Ohio has a non-resident three day fishing license for only $19.00 which is reasonable.  Your license has to be worn on the outside of your clothing  so it can be spotted by the park ranger.

There are several playground scattered throughout the park for kids.

There is a small pavilion for groups to gather.

The park is well maintained.  restrooms and showers are available but not well kept and they could use a remodel.

Bush Recreation Area is a small Corp park, nice and quiet.  It has a fair amount of tent and RV sites however, there are only a  few sites which are full service;  water, electric, and sewer.

The large lake access includes a boat ramp and dock.  There is no marked beach although swimming is allowed.  Because of the dam run off, the water looks murky.  So the idea of swimming isn’t really appealing.

While we there torrential rains caused the water level in the park to rise  significantly.

When we arrived at the park the dock was actually right at the shore.

A fair amount of debris that kept accumulating on shore.  The park workers did a fabulous job cleaning the waterfront up once the water receded.

The water rose all the way to the first “parking” sign. This was a great way for us to see how the water rose each day.   Although the water did rise quite a bit, the park stayed open, as the entrance was not flooded, although the water did reach the edge of the entrance road.

There are no laundry facilities however, it is a short drive to town for the laundromat.

There was a small group shelter available for groups.

Bush Recreation Area, Alexandria, PAPets are allowed, as long as they are on a leash.

 

Our dogs seem to enjoy camping as much as we do.

We usually check out how  the dam was constructed at the Corp parks.

There are so many beautiful parks throughout the U.S. that we have yet to visit any one of them more than once.  Several are on our list for return trips.  Bush Rec is a great place to unwind and relax.

Staying at Artillery Ridge was a fabulous experience.  The campground is actually located on a civil war battlefield.

Artillery ridge has a very well-maintained mini golf course.

They also have a very nice well-kept heated pool.  Sorry there is not photo of it, but it was a great addition to this lovely park and a great way to cool off in the summer heat.  

The park offers a huge group tent camping site.  Several groups of boy scouts were there for the weekend.

The RV camping area is well kept  with adequate room between RV’s.

Along with that they provide cabins which are unique as they are built with cowboys themes.

Horse riding is very popular at Artillery Ridge  There are stalls, round pens and trails to enjoy horseback riding.

A great number of RV’ers travel with the furry friends.  When we are on the road for some time we look for a dog groomer.  We found the Yankee Doodle Pet Spa.     If you are ever in Gettysburg, PA and need your pet groomed I definitely suggest this groomer.

The owners were very helpful and they did a super job on my Lhasa Apso, Nala.

While at Artillery Ridge, there are many sightseeing opportunities.  If the civil war interests you, you definitely need to take advantage of these tours.  We took one which was free.  The guide was very informative and was able to answer any questions we had.

This is one of many rows of those unknown soldiers.  The graves were marked with numbers.  In some instances, their were so many casualties, that the soldiers were buried in mass graves.

By Gods will we are able to recognize the heroes and champions of our country.

The statues and monuments tell the story of the civil war and are a great reflection of our history.  History CANNOT be changed and may these monuments never be removed as an effort to erase history!!  Some states have already removed statues depicting persons who took part in the making of our history.  This is unacceptable.  We should learn from history not act like it never happened.

Virginia Landing is a very quiet place to camp.  If you plan to just stay and relax this is your place, but if you get bored easily bring a vehicle with you so you can go places.  There are campsites in the open and also in a heavily shaded area. The shade is nice but again that is where the flies go.

The drive into the campground is on a very narrow road.  That is what I saw as one of the biggest downfalls to the campground.

Being right by the ocean be warned that the flies are bad.  Also there is no walkway to the water.

There is a long walk to the pool depending on where your campsite is.  The pool is very large and goes from 3 to 8 feet in depth.

A mini golf course is available but needs a great deal of work. It would be a great course if properly maintained.

We try to find a local church we can attend while we are in different areas.   Here we found the Puncoteague Community Church.  It was a lovely little country church.  We really enjoyed it and if we ever get back to that area, we plan of visiting it again.

While we were at Virginia landing we went on an evening boat cruise.

We saw an osprey sitting on its nest. According to our guide, the babies were in it but they were hidden pretty well.  Along with that we saw a heron wading in the shallow water.

With all good evening cruises there is always that fabulous sunset.

Our campsite was right near the water.  Although there is no designated beach, you can swim right off the shore.  Fishing and boating are also very popular.

Bulltown campground wasn’t very large but it is located on the site historic  Bulltown Battle.

We enjoyed our stay at Bulltown.  If you like civil war history, a quiet campground, and fantastic scenery, Bulltown is for you.

We had previously stayed at Dale Hollow Lake at one of the other campgrounds, this year we stayed at Willow Grove.  It is a  very nice campground.  Well kept up and clean.

Willow Grove Campground, TennesseeWe have always had good luck with Corp parks.  They are well maintained and low cost.  There is a golden age pass that you can get to get half off for camping.  If you camp often Corp parks are nice.  When we decide to go camping our first search is with Corp parks.
