ALOHA, Welcome to Hawaii
Flying into Airport
Airport in Kona, Hawaii
Sunset in Kona
Hawaii is rich in scenic beauty. The interesting thing about Kona is that it is mostly lava rock. As you drive along the roadside you can see where the lava flowed during the volcanic eruptions.
We always enjoy finding fabulous waterfalls. Akaka Falls was fabulous. There was the huge falls but while you are making your way toward it you would pass smaller falls hidden in the greenery.
This falls is fabulous. There are several small falls in the same area but the largest one is Akaka Falls.
Walkway to the falls. Although a lengthy walk, the paved path made it easy.
Lush scenery enveloped us as we walked the lengthy path to the falls.
Various colorful flowers grew along the path.

The black sand beach is quite the tourist attraction. The sand is much courser that regular beach sand. This is the area where if you are lucky you can see huge sea turtles. Unfortunately we did not see any.

Seahorses are very fragile so in order to hold them the biologist would carefully wind the tail around your finger.
Never thought I would try eating seaweed. It was actually quite good but if you didn’t shake a bunch of the sea water off it can be quite salty.
Yes, I am playing with an octopus. In order to get their attention, you put your fingers on the surface of the water and move them to get their attention.
There are many interesting things to do in Hawaii. This is only some of what we saw. We do plan on going back to Hawaii, but to another Island. Really looking forward to that.
GOODNIGHT HAWAII
