Flag Status

Flag

As an Army Veteran, I get very disheartened when I drive into an RV park and the American flag is flying proudly but is faded and frayed.  There is no excuse to fly the United States flag in that condition.  Ten Pin, a Navy Veteran and I have been making such parks aware that they need to replace their flags when they are in such horrible condition.  If you go to a park with worn flags, make sure to let the staff know that the flag should be replaced.

2017 LA-Z Acres RV Park Ohio

Entering into the park we noticed how closed the RV’s were.  The road into the park was rough and parking our RV was a challenge.     Ten Pin had his camper parked right behind us.  Our car hauler along with Ten Pins tow dolly were also crammed into the tiny space.

Our compact campsite with our trailers.

Because the sites were so uneven, we were unable to level it so we had to park it where the picnic table was literally right outside out front door.  We couldn’t move the table  because it was over a large cement cover.

The sites were extremely close together, back to back and side to side.  It seemed that anywhere they found room to make another space, that’s what they did.

Many RV sites had litter around them, the grass not mowed and sites were not level by no means. Many residents were long term or permanent which meant the site maintenance was their responsibility.

The maintenance shed had all sorts of clutter around it.

Everyone seemed to have a golf cart and they were driven at all hours.    There was no quiet time enforced.  Also the leash law for pets and the 10 m.p.h. speed limit while driving through the park was not enforced.

The one thing we did enjoy was the live band which they had on Saturday night. The golf carts  gathered for the Saturday night live concert.  Quite a big gathering to hear the live band.

2017 Dale Hollow Dam RV Campsite TN

This is another of the Corps of Engineers parks.  Again we found this COE RV park very well kept, spacious, level lots.

Huge lots

The above  photo like an empty lot but actually our 30 foot RV is parked on the right.  Lots are gravel and level.  The only complaint is the fine gravel in each lot which is easily dragged into the RV,  but I do have a broom.

The staff was friendly and very helpful.  Restrooms and shower were very clean with daily maintenance.    There are several within the park at various locations.  A covered outdoor laundry facility is also available.

If you want to take in a game of golf, there is a fabulous course in the near Dale Hollow Dam State Park in Kentucky.  This was Gypsy’s and TenPins first ever time on a golf course.  We were told it was one of the most difficult courses to start on.

We were glad they had golf carts.  We walked plenty even with the carts.  We had a great time in the beautiful weather and lovely course.  If you  are a golfer and you visit Dale Hollow Dam RV Park you will definitely want to visit this golf course.

Bird Survives
Bird Survives

Not sure what kind of bird this is but when I heard a loud thump from within the RV I went outside to investigate.  On the ground I found this bird which had ran into the window.  I wasn’t sure if it was alive.  I picked it up and felt it move slightly.  I held it gently, talked to it, and pet the top of its head.  It seemed to be slowly coming around.  I set it in on the ground tucked in near a tree.  I checked on it several times and it was still where I set it.  The fourth time I checked on it, the bird had flown away.  Gypsy’s proudest moment.
